IEEE BUET Student Branch proudly announces the successful completion of the workshop entitled as “Android Apps Development.” It was organized by IEEE BUET SB along with the support of IEEE Bangladesh Section, with a view to encouraging students to take part in IEEE Mobile Applications Development Competition (IEEEmadC). The workshop was presided over by Shadman Majid, a young, yet prominent Android Apps developer from the department of Computer Science in Engineering in BUET.
The day long workshop, held on March 16, 2017 at Robert Noyce Lab, BUET, was arranged in two sessions. A number of 21 people attended the workshop. At the very beginning, Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, Chairperson of IEEE BUET Student Branch welcomed the students with a welcome speech. Afterwards, Satyaki Banik, Ambassador of IEEE BUET SB in IEEEmadC gave a brief description on the competition and why and how students should participate. He insisted on the focus of the workshop to be encouraging the students to take part in the global event- IEEEmadC.
The morning session lasted for about 4 hours which covered theoretical backgrounds on mobile application development and android. The instructor focused much on the ease of usage of Android as a medium of mobile application development. He also stated dozens of dos and don’ts in development practice. Each and every crucial specification of the Android Studio was mentioned by the instructor. The ending hour of the first session encouraged the participants to start writing codes for their first Android app.
The second session which lasted for 3 hours comprised entirely of hands-on activity on coding an app. The instructor showed the participants how to create a simple user interface, along with layouts and controls in android.
It was not the workshop or the hands-on training that benefitted the participants the most; rather it was the motivation that the instructor conveyed- sharing his own experiences, rises and falls, and most importantly- stories of success.
In the end, all the participants were motivated enough to start their own journey in the world of Android apps development. IEEE BUET SB truly hopes that these participants will participate in IEEEmadC and fulfill the true objective of this workshop.
